Update: I need your contact info!
If you missed my last newsletter, I revealed in it that I have big plans for next year! I’d also like to do something for everyone who’d previously bought my book box from How You Get The Girl. Unfortunately, I don’t have any access to anyone’s contact details, so I would love to hear from you if you’re an affected customer.
If you were a HYGTG Lianyu Tan book box customer, please fill out this short survey and it will help me plan what’s in store for 2026!
Fill in the survey at https://lianyutan.com/hygtg
This survey asks for a receipt screenshot or photo upload, and therefore requires a google account to fill in. If you don’t have a gmail account, feel free to please message me on discord/insta @lianyutan and we can work through it!
Thanks so much ❤❤
In August 2024 I partnered with the sapphic book box company howyougetthegirl.com, who intended to produce special edition hardcovers of my books with themed merchandise. This box was meant to ship in October/November 2024 but was continually delayed.
Their website is now offline and they have stopped responding to emails and instagram comments on their account, @howyougetthegirlbookbox.
I strongly advise any customers who haven’t already done so to request a refund via paypal and/or your bank. I’ve added archive copies of Shipping Updates, Contact, and the Lianyu Tan Feature Box pages from howyougetthegirl.com to my Dropbox for you to download to support your refund requests.
I don’t have any access to the list of customers who ordered my special edition box, so if you have friends with pending orders, including orders for the Santana Knox and Giana Darling boxes, please share this information with them.
How You Get the Girl paid me $400 in licensing fees and I paid my art designer $140 for typography just for this project, which I currently have no use for. The net $260 remaining I’ve donated to Queer Liberation Library (proof). Maybe I’ll launch my own special edition kickstarter one day, but right now my current work-in-progress has to come first.
I’m sorry I haven’t posted about this sooner. I always want to think the best of small, independent queer-owned businesses, and the upheaval over tariffs seemed to provide some justification for the extreme delays. I apologise for my misplaced trust and I hope you are all successful in your refund requests, if you choose to lodge one.
I already responded, but I couldn’t go in and edit it, so just leaving this here. I forgot to add my PayPal receipt. When I paid via PayPal, it said that I paid to Act Your Page Designs, LLC . I just looked this company name up and they appear to be based in Maryland and owned by Kelsey Jenkins. Is this who you worked with? Trying to find more information so I can hopefully get a refund through my bank or contacting their company.
Thanks Hannah, I got your screenshot from Shopify so that’s great! The company is the correct one. I hope your bank can help you, but I’ve heard that some customers had issues. I’ll be in touch, thank you so much for providing your details!
